Amanda Holland
I have always struggled with my weight most of my life and have never been entirely happy. In May 2008 I was at an all time low, I had had a back operation four years ago and the weight had just piled on. At my heaviest I couldn't even look in the mirror. I noticed an ad for a ladies only gym called Gymophobics and decided I’d had enough - it was time to do something.
The thought of going into a gym totally filled me with dread but all the girls were so friendly and of course it was ladies only. All the ladies who attend have one thing in common and that is to feel better about themselves.
The weight and inches dropped off gradually at first but once I started it got easier and easier. The circuit is also so easy to do and its enjoyable.
I am now at my target weight and feel great. My confidence has returned and I really enjoy shopping for clothes again. The girls are absolute stars and I've made some great friends as well.
BIG THANK YOU , I couldn't have done it on my own.
Amanda has lost a total of 4st 8lbs and over 57 inches!

The staff at Ipswich have been great, encouraging me and changing my programme every few weeks to help me maintain my weight loss. Everyone at the gym is really friendly which makes it a nice place to go.

In January 2008, I was feeling particularly unhappy with the way I looked & felt, when I read an advertisement for Gymophobics.
After some thought, especially as ‘the gym was not for me’, I decided to ring & arrange a trial visit. After having a look round & listening to what the instructor has to say, I made the decision to join Gymophobics, Tamworth & arranged my first assessment for the next day. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made & I have not looked back since.
I attend the gym three to four times a week & with the help of my tailor-made programmes & regular re-assessments, combined with a healthy balanced diet I have lost 5 St 7 lbs & a massive 66.5 inches.
The support & encouragement I have received from all of the wonderful staff at Gymophobics has been invaluable & I know that attending the gym will help make sure I keep the weight off. I would not hesitate to recommend GYMOPHOBICS…

Lost 3 stone and lost 40½"
Lost 10% Body Fat. BMI Reduced by 7.7
June 08 I was asked when I was due to give birth this made me realise I needed to do something about my weight. I rang Gymophobics had a FREE guest visit and joined straightaway as it seemed friendly & relaxed. They took all my measurements and weight in a private room so straight away it put me at ease. Then they set me a personal program that suited the needs for me. My goal was to lose 3 stone so they also gave me Nutritional advice which really helped.
Every 8-10 weeks I was re-assessed to see my progress and they would then change my program. By them doing this it really helped keep me on track. I am now over the moon as I have reached my target weight. I have lost 3 stone and 40½ inches across my body. I now wear size 12 clothes instead of 18. I feel fabulous. I would recommend Gymophobics to everyone they have changed my life.
Thank You

For some time now I felt that I was not as fit or active as I was just a year ago. Then I saw the Gymophobics advert and thought perhaps this is it. Later my daughter Rosemary also saw the advert and mentioned it to me, yes I said, shall we join?
We booked a look see and were guests one afternoon and immediately joined Gymophobics that very day. After just a few sessions I began to feel more active and alert and am aware of my posture. I have always enjoyed the countryside and before joining Gymophobics I felt such enjoyment was disappearing, now I can look forward once again to such outdoor activities
I am enjoying my sessions and am amazed at the kindness and individual help all receive from the instructors. I am glad to be a member of such a friendly gym, joining Gymophobics is something I will never regret.

I have been a member of Gymophobics Ipswich for just over 3 years. I have always found the staff very friendly and approachable, and they always offer support and advice when needed.
Combined with an improved diet, Gymophobics has assisted me with considerable weight and inch loss, and I would definitely recommend as a great toning exercise. I enjoy the gym with its friendly and relaxed atmosphere where all the staff know you by name.

Wendy Fuller
Wendy is one of our longest serving members and one of our bubbliest, a lovely lady who frequently has the staff in stitches.
She joined right at the beginning, and she says: “The staff are so
friendly and really helpful, it is nothing like a conventional Gym”
Wendy has osteoarthritis of the lower back which has affected her sciatic nerve. She
says Gymophobics has strengthened the muscles in her back and eased her discomfort no end.
“I have also lost 14.5 inches and a stone in weight to boot, with the resistance exercise
and the dietary advice the instructors have given me. Gymophobics has changed my
life.”
Zoe Hibbs - Achieving the perfect figure for her special occasion
Zoe lost 4 stone 4lbs- and 51 inches overall
“In 2007, my best friend asked me to be her bridesmaid- I was thrilled. However you can imagine my dismay, when, at the dress fitting, I realised I had gone up to a size 18. It was definitely time for action and so I decided to achieve weight loss and toning. After looking at a number of gyms, I came across Stafford Gymophobics. On a Guest Visit they showed me around and explained how their system for weight loss and figure shaping worked. My gran also wanted to keep healthy so we both enrolled.”
“This November I’m going to be a bridesmaid again- but now, thanks to Gymophobics, I’m going to be a size 10. I cannot recommend Stafford Gymophobics enough. It has given me the confidence to audition for the B&Q television advertising campaign. Ladies use Gymophobics because they don’t like spending hours in the gym and want to workout in non-intimidating, friendly environment.”
Sarah Clayes - From size 18 - 10
Sarah Clayes, 37, joined Gymophobics and shed 5 stones in less than two years, swapping her size 18 clothes for a svelte size 10. Having dropped no less than five dress sizes she now looks so different that friends often fail to recognise her!
In May 2006, Sarah saw a photo of herself at a wedding and was horrified to see how big she had become. The mother-of-two, was frightened her trousers would rip due to her size. “I had seen a voucher in the newspaper that week offering a membership deal at Gymophobics, so I decided I had to join.”
Sarah weighed in at 14st 3lbs. When she discovered 47% of her body was fat she sat down and cried.
Sarah loves Gymophobics. “I am so pleased I pushed myself to take that first step. It has really changed me, and my life. The gym pushed me into action and helped me lose weight.” With the support of Gymophobics Instructors Sarah changed her lifestyle and that of her family by changing the way they view food.
"When I think back to how I used to eat it is quite horrifying. I just ate all the wrong things and far too much of it. Now, my husband Paul has lost weight too, and the children accept the new way we eat as normal. The hilarious thing is that many of my family and friends didn’t recognise me at first. The way I looked would change so much from week to week, that was how dramatic my weight loss was."
Sarah is now a slim 9st 4lbs and has maintained her goal weight for more than two years by keeping up with her 30 minute workouts at Gymophobics.

I have had a back problem since the age of 13. But in 2005, I suffered a very bad episode which left me immobile and in excruciating pain. An MRI Scan revealed three prolapsed discs, and from there on my recovery was a long and slow process.
I had physio and regular chiropractic appointments, besides walking and swimming, would be good for my back. I had always been afraid of joining a gym, simply because three was that niggling thought “What if I hurt my back again”. But when Gymophobics came to Tamworth, my mum pointed out their advert and as a fellow back sufferer, suggested we call in for a chat. Originally I was apprehensive, but as soon as we walked in, the friendly, relaxed atmosphere put me at ease. After a thorough chat with Steph, we were shown round the facility and told how each programme is tailored to the individual. This meant my medical condition would be carefully taken into consideration and the fully trained instructors were always there to help and advise. Every eight weeks, members are assessed and programmes adjusted if necessary, though there is never any pressure to try to achieve more than you are comfortable with.
A year on from joining I have regained my confidence in my physical abilities. I have also noticed how much my muscle tone and strength has improved. Even on a bad day, I feel the difference after my 30-minute session. So to any other back sufferers out there “don’t be afraid” go and have a chat, its fun, friendly and I thoroughly recommend it!
If anyone had told me I would start going to a gym at the age of 68, I would have said they were mad! But here I am, nearly 70 and coming to the end of my first year’s membership. I have had a back problem since the late 1960’s and it reached a point in the late 1970’s where I needed a walking stick to help me stay upright.
After years of regular chiropractic treatment, I have reached a point where my back is stable and better than I ever thought possible. Then 2 years ago my daughters back condition deteriorated drastically and I was helping her try and get back to some sort of normality, as I had been there I know what she was going through.
I wanted to make sure my back stays strong and also to help my daughter. The Gymophobics opened in Tamworth and after a few months of “shall I. Shan’t I”? Both, me and my daughter, decided to give it go. It has really made a difference. My Chiropractor also approves of Gymophobics. It keeps me mobile and active and even on the days it seems a bit of chore to get ready and go, I always feel better after my session. The staff are great, friendly and supportive. Regular re-assessments make sure you are progressing and still happy with your programme.
My daughter and I have now extended our membership. Thank goodness Gymophobics came to Tamworth. So go on, try it for yourself…

At Gymophobics I have achieved so much already, By my first re-assessment I managed to lose 6 pounds, my body fat is down 4.6% and my gain in confidence cannot be measured. I feel comfortable with the people around me, as they are very friendly and don’t make you feel uneasy. The instructors encourage you and are there to answer all your questions

I joined Lichfield Gympohobics in April 2008 having lost 3 stone I knew I needed help to lose another 3 stone.
I am so pleased with the help & support the staff at Lichfield Gymophobics gave me to achieve my goal.
The programs is so easy to follow and with each session being only 30 minutes long it so easy to fit into every day life.
I lost 3 stone and 38 and a half inches. I went from a size 20 to 14. My aim was to slim down in time for my wedding in May 2009 and I hit my weight and size target with 2 weeks to go - the staff at Lichfield Gymophobics were always on hand to give advice, motivation and offer diet ideas too - following a healthy diet helps you to achieve the results you want, I love coming into the gym and always leave feeling fantastic. Its by far the easiest programme I have ever followed and will continue to come as often as I can to maintain my weight!

From Brighton & Hove Gymophobics
Lost a total of 37 Inches
When I first joined Gymophobics in January 2009, I was seriously concerned about my weight and the effects it was having on my health. It was the first time I ever joined a gym and to be honest I had some serious reservations. I need not have worried, Janet and her instructors made me feel really welcome and I now enjoy going three times a week.
The staff are all incredibly friendly as well as being supportive, encouraging and motivating. They make the gym a pleasure to walk into.
Now 8 months later, my health is much improved, I am 31lbs lighter and have lost a total of 37 inches.
I know that I could not have achieved this on my own. So a big THANK YOU to Gymophobics
Christine
I've never eaten regular meals and I didn’t really notice my weight was creeping up. I was aware that my back hurt after driving long distances and seeing a new ladies only gym - Gymophobics opening nearby in Chesterfield I decided to make enquiries after reading claims that their 30 minute circuit could help ease muscle pains.
At my induction, standing on the scales for the first time in 20 years and seeing that I weighed almost 13 stone came as a shock and I vowed to do something about it. Every member gets an individually tailored programme consisting of exercises that are air assisted and suitable for anyone. With the encouragement and advice from the friendly instructors at Gymophobics about eating regularly I found I really enjoyed working out on the 30 minute circuit. The exercises are not strenuous and can easily be carried out during a lunch hour.
After 30 weeks I lost 3 and a half stone and dropped 4 dress sizes and feel so much healthier
Gymophobics turned me from a phobic to a fanatic!

We joined Gymophobics Rugby together in April 2009 as we needed to lose weight and inches.
It has been the best decision we ever made, our results are if we say so ourselves are fantastic. We have lost a combined weight of 5 stone 6lbs and a total of 61 inches.
We have tried many things in the past but this really works, we are so so pleased that we joined.
The staff are wonderful and keep us motivated and on track. The atmosphere is great and friendly, we feel so relaxed as soon as we walk through the door. With it only taking 30 minutes to complete the entire circuit we can fit it into our routine easily 3 to 4 times a week.
We recommend Gymophobics to everyone. Thank you to all the staff for your help and support over the past year and look forward to another year ahead of us

I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I reached a point where I had enough of my size and wanted to do something about it. Going to the gym made me feel sick because of my size and the last thing I wanted was people looking at me work out.
A friend of mine told me about Gymophobics and I joined after a 7day free trail.
I loved it
I have made many friends and the staffs are the best bunch of people I have ever met. My confidence has grown and I owe it all to the members and staff at Gymophobics in Sydenham
Thanks for everything

Since joining GYMOPHOBICS, I have dropped 4 dress sizes and feel much fitter and happier with how I look and feel about myself.I used to think that I would never loose the weight and that even I did, I would be left with rolls of "saggy" flesh and stretch marks, GYMOPHOBICS has proved me wrong and I could not be happier. My body is toning up nicely and I am going to carry on exercising, confident that things will get even better!!!I would recommend it to everyone. The staff are friendly and always on hand to give an encouraging word and keep you on track.
In Short - "IT WORKS"!!!!
Claire
'My guest visit let me see that there is so much more to the Gymophobics concept. I’ve always been happy with my slim frame but I felt very unfit. I wanted more energy, more curves and to tone and strengthen by body.
The Staff at Gymophobics are lovely, they spend time finding out what your goals are and then they make a programme just for you. In no time I began to feel the results I wanted and I’m having fun into the bargain, it’s a great place to come and workout.
When I first joined in August 2009 my heart rate was really high, showing just how unfit I was, now it’s greatly improved and I have so much more energy, stamina and confidence. My body fat analysis is much better too as my muscle tone improves.
Just 30 minutes 3 times a week really has changed my life!'
Debbie (Northampton)
Debbie has lost 10lbs in 10 weeks!!
reduced body fat by 7.3%, and lost 15.5 inches, reduced her resting heart rate and blood pressure as well, amazing results. We are so proud of Debbie we are spoiling her with a free beauty treatment!!
Here is what Debbie had to say:
'As I sat during the Christmas holiday period, watching TV, popping yet another chocolate into my mouth, I caught sight of myself very briefly in the mirror and for a split second I didnt recognise myself, but it made me say to myself 'you need to do something!, but I didn't know what- because I had no intention of joining a gym again.
One Thursday evening in January, I read the local paper and I saw a full page spread advertising Gymophobics, I cut out the advert and attached it to my fridge. That's where it stayed, but I did mention it to my friend.
During the next day at work, I chatted to the same friend and we decided that although we liked nothing more than going to the cinenma and then a meal afterwards, we needed a different hobby as we both have stressful jobs and we needed to both think about our health( we are in that 40 yr bracket) as we're not getting any younger.
My friend suggested some relaxation therapy, which consisted oy laying down on pillows and humming to bells and drums etc, that was most definitely not for me at all! Then one evening, the same friend rang and suggested we practise Tai Chi, she got the idea because she had just finished watching Kung Fu Panda, "absolutely, no way" I replied.
The next day, I took the newspaper advert of my fridge and made the phonecall to Gymophobics. There was no need to be nervous because at the end of the line was a very friendly, reassuring voice. I booked us both in.
It's the best thing I ever did and I've achieved great results so far.'
