Intermittent Fasting (IF)

A new study in America has found that intermittent fasting can aid weight loss AND help to fight off disease and boost immunity.

IF means that you only eat in a certain time period to deprive the body of glucose. Doing this forces the body to break down fat to produce an alternative fuel source called keytones. The study found that immune cells fend off infections and cancer more effectively when using keytones as an energy source.

Our blood sugars become stable when we are not eating and stable blood sugars help to reduce inflammation and increase immunity. Fasting for a minimum of 14 to 18 hours per day is ideal when following IF.
