A study with adults aged 55 to 74, shows that doing resistance exercise (as well as aerobic activity) led to a 47 per cent lower risk of death. The study by US researchers from the University of Iowa monitored 99,713 adults for a decade. Author of the Study, Dr. Jessica Gorzelitz, which was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine says, ‘Older adults will benefit from ‘resistance’ exercise twice a week in addition to aerobic activity’
